COLUMBIA – Funeral services for Janie Alice Fallaw, 77, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with entombment to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the funeral home chapel and at other times at 107 Vale Drive, Lexington, SC 29073. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 520 Gervais Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
Mrs. Fallaw was born September 12, 1933 in Columbia, SC and passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 after a brief illness. She was a daughter of the late John Travis Turkett and Eva Mae Fraylick Turkett. She retired from Westinghouse NFD in October, 1993 after working in the Grid Area for 25 years. Mrs. Fallaw was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Fallaw is survived by her sister, Sue Gray of Clearwater, SC; five grandchildren, Michelle Moorey (Nathan) of Spartanburg, Angela Parker (Tracy) of West Columbia, Glen Kelly (Tami) of Columbia, Sherry Greer (Dusty) of Lexington and Mikell Martin (Bryan) of Irmo; fourteen great-grandchildren; sons-in-laws, A. G. Kelly and Mike McLaughlin and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Fallaw; daughters, Sherry Kelly and Delores McLaughlin; sister, Sara Resh and brothers, Marion Turkett, John Turkett and beloved dog, Tiny II. The family would like to send a special thanks to Doris and Bill Buff for their devotion and care during her illness.
