He was a proud veteran who served for 11 years in Army military branch as a Drill Sergeant. After serving in the military, he became a welder for Carolina Door until they closed business. He was a stoic man that loved fishing, the outdoors and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley Durkee; son, Wayne Hourihan; daughter, Laura Williams and previously deceased son, Larry Hourihan; two sisters and one brother, along with several grandchildren.
He was loved dearly by his family and will be greatly missed.
Viewing will be at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170 on Wednesday, January 11 between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. Graveside services are going to be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229 at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 12.
