WEST COLUMBIA – Jacob D. Kyzer, Sr., 90, husband of Sarah Pearl Pleasant Kyzer, to whom he was married for 70 years, died Saturday, October 1, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born in Lexington, SC he was a son of the late Jacob Q. Kyzer and Etolia Taylor Kyzer. Mr. Kyzer attended Dunn's Chapel. He was owner of Kyzer Truck & Trailer Repair and was a member of the Wildlife Association and Pacific Lodge #325. He was an avid outdoorsman and loyal Gamecock’s fan. Mr. Kyzer was a United States Merchant Marine Veteran serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of West Columbia, daughter, Phyllis Shackelford (Douglas); son, Jacob D. Kyzer, Jr. (Debbie) and special daughter, Donna Belcher (Bobby); four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Shuler; brother, Melton Kyzer and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Spigner.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Dunn's Chapel with Rev. Tom Atten and Rev. Bruce Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Graber, Brandon Walters, Alton Browder, Scott Cloer, Bart Barfield, Rusty Pleasant, Bobby Belcher and Dennis Ricard. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Kyzer Truck & Trailer Repair and special neighbor and friend, Corey Hook.
