Harry “Bud” Allen III passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 87 in Columbia, SC. He courageously fought lung cancer that had spread to parts of his body before passing peacefully with his loving family at his side.
Harry was born to Alice and Harry Allen, Jr. on July 29, 1936, in Lynn, Massachusetts. His family moved to Key West in 1952 where he graduated from Key West High School, class of 1954. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and served eight years, four on active duty and four in reserves. Upon returning to Key West, he married Peggy Jordan Allen and became manager of Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. before moving on to a career in Automotive & Service Centers in several other southern states.
Harry is survived by his daughter and caretaker, Dawn Allen Cragg; son, Harry (Ty) Allen IV; grandchildren, Brandi (Justin) Morrow, Katie (Josh) Jackson and six great-grandchildren; sister, Sandy Archer; brother, Earle Allen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Peggy; parents, Alice and Harry Allen, Jr.; infant daughter, Tanya; sister and brother-in-law, Lona and John Feil; and brother-in-laws, Glynn Archer, Jr. and Bradley Eggebraaten.
A graveside service will be held for Harry at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
