Greta Davis Jackson, 84, of West Columbia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2024. She was born on July 7, 1939, in Central, Pickens County, South Carolina to the late Mary Grace Kindley and James Berkley Davis.
Greta was an active member of Grace Baptist Church for 50 years. She met the love of her life, James Jackson, when she worked at Zesto, and he worked at Brickle Hardware across the street. She was an amazing cook and homemaker, the kind of woman who measured with her hands and could whip up a meal for grandchildren or a house full of workers in a few minutes. Her love for her family was never divided, and her heart always grew as their family grew. She loved each of her 12 siblings and was proud of their accomplishments as well. She had a hymn in her heart, loved reading and quoting Scripture, and serving Jesus. Greta was the kind of woman that made everyone feel special. She was always very hospitable and gracious. She would praise the Lord by playing the piano and singing. She loved spending time at the lake with family and relished watching her plants bloom and found joy in God's creation. She loved and prayed for her church, Grace Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her four children, Annette Valdario (John), James R. Jackson, Jr. (Regina), Steven L. Jackson, and Deborah Ayer (Tim); grandchildren: Anna (Adam) Stevens, Mark Valdario, Michael Valdario, David (Lisa) Valdario, John Jr. (Chandra) Valdario, Crissey (Jody) Watkins, Miriam Jackson, James Jackson III, Bryan (Candace) Jackson, Linda Jackson, Leila (James) Potter, Dahlia (Austin) Hamilton, Scarlett Fears, Sarah (Josh) Evanovich, Courtney Jackson, Jill (Ryan) Holt, Amy (James) Darnell, Andy (Ashley) Ayer, Mitch (Corey) Ayer and Tamara Ayer and, siblings: Aliene Moore, Doreen Henderson, Kindley Davis, Shaw Davis, Linda Cannon and 37 great-grandchildren.
