On April 29, 2016, God called His faithful servant, Edward Gene Joseph, home. The call was sudden and unexpected, but in God's perfect plan, not untimely. Ed's family grieves for their loss, but rejoices for his reception into his Heavenly Father's presence. Ed was a beloved husband, father, papa, "Grandsir", son, brother and uncle. Ed was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Perry and Edna Joseph and grew up in Zion, Illinois. He graduated with honors from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy following service in the Vietnam War as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class in Danang, Vietnam. He was recently retired from Cap Gemini as a software engineer and consultant, following a long career with NCR Corporation in West Columbia, South Carolina. Ed's 71 years were marked by service. He gave endlessly of his time and his talents. In his community, he served as a member and past chairman of the Board of Trustees for Lexington County School District Four. He was a hard-working band parent. He served in the Good News Club, the after school program at his local schools. At his church, there was no need Ed was not prepared to meet. "Mr. Ed" loved his church and selflessly served the congregation.
Ed's legacy and memory will be carried on by his wife of 33 years, Kay Joseph; his daughters, Kim Andrysczyk (Craig), Cassi Wisener (Kevin), Jessica Joseph, Emily Luther (Jason), and Rachel Joseph; his brother, Jim Joseph (Linda) and sister, Susan Lopez (Tony) and his grandchildren, Brittany, Perry and Shelby Andrysczyk, Jacob and Caleb Hodges, and James and Everett Luther.
