By trade, he was an industrial engineer and retired from Converse Sportswear in Charlotte, NC. He attended Lexington Baptist Church where he was a deacon and sang bass in the choir. He loved God, life and his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Nancy L. (Melvin) McSwain and Beth A. (Nelson) Hedgepeth; his son-in-law, Mike Rowell; his grandchildren, Lesley Weston, Jonathan (Summer) Rowell, Joseph (Nichole) Hedgepeth, Sarah (Stephen) Howie, Aaron Hedgepeth, Caleb (Nicole) Hedgepeth, Samuel McSwain, and Emily McSwain; and ten great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his wife, Wanda Gross; daughter, Laura J. Rowell; grandson, Ryan A. Dotson; granddaughter, Lauren M. Rowell, and great-grandson, Jackson C. Hedgepeth.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Southland Memorial Gardens.
