Danny Bruce Butler, 73, was called to his heavenly home October 15, 2020. He was born in Summerville, SC, on May 12, 1947, to Sidney and Evelyn Butler and was a graduate of Lower Richland High School. He retired as a plumber/pipefitter civil service employee of 35 years.
Throughout his life he was dedicated to one of service. He was a Sunday school teacher (for the Special Education classes and 2nd grades), leader of Royal Ambassadors, basketball coach, sang in the choir, and served as a deacon at Riverview Baptist Church, Beaufort, SC, Port Royal Baptist Church, Port Royal, SC; and finally Grace Baptist Church, West Columbia, SC.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Butler, of fifty-one years; his two sons, Danny Charles (Jamie) Butler of Memphis, TN and David Raymond Butler of Gaston, SC; a brother, David Sidney Butler of Columbia, SC; a sister, Julia Lynn Hartzog of Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in the Shumpert Chapel, 416 Denham Avenue, West Columbia, SC at 2 o’clock, Saturday, November 21, 2020. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. The service can be accessed via live stream on Grace Baptist Facebook Page. Attendees are encouraged to wear masks and social distance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Baptist Church Missions Fund.
