Charles G. Elmore

First Sergeant Charles G. Elmore, retired U. S. Army, passed away in his home with family by his side on April 23, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the graveside.

Charles was born on August 17, 1935 in Lamar, SC to Avis and Aris Elmore. Following high school graduation, he joined the military to serve his country.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Pauline Elmore; his son, Gary Dewayne Elmore; his grandson, Zackery Aris Boley; his brother, Curtis Elmore; his sister, Peggy Goings and his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Elmore. Charles is survived by six children: Darlene Amick (Bill), Denise Elmore (Cliff Pickard), David Elmore, Diane Elmore (Jeff Brant), Deloris Elmore and Deanna Mayse (Dennis); sister, Linda Sanchez; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
