He was born May 9, 1949 in Piqua, Ohio to Dr. and Mrs. Roman L. Meyer of Coldwater, Ohio
He was a 1967 Graduate of Coldwater High School; 1971 Graduate of Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio with a B.S. in Education and a 1980 Graduate of Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio with a Master of Education.
During his teaching career he taught Social Studies from 1972-1974 at Sidney Lehman High School; 3rd and 4th grade from 1975-1984 at Marion Local Schools and Jr. High Math from 1984-2001 at Minster Local Schools.
He also coached at all three schools - football, basketball, baseball and golf.
On November 9, 1974 in Troy, OH he married Peg (Markland) Meyer of Arcanum, Ohio.
He is survived by his parents, his wife and his son Bryan J. and Darah (Hayes) Meyer and grandson Grayson of Lakewood, CO; and son Erik W. and Jammie (Kohen) Meyer and grandson Rhett of Visalia, CA.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise L. Meyer.
He is also survived by his brothers – Jacque E. Meyer of Celina, OH; Drs. Jeffrey A. and Anita (Wells) Meyer of Weeki Wachee, FL and Roman R. Meyer of Coldwater, OH and sisters Susan E. (Meyer) and Chuck Aplin of Melbourne, FL and Sandra E. (Meyer) and Aaron Tian of Morrisville, NC and three nephews – Alex Meyer, Joe Meyer and David Meyer.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, OH.
Bill was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns and thoroughly enjoyed sharing this passion with his two sons. He loved his family, golf, traveling (especially in the western states) and teaching, and was known by many of his students for his sense of humor in the classroom.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Mary’s, Ohio in the spring.
