Sabino Orlando Medina, Sr., 84, of Visalia, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 12, 2012. He was a member of Local Labors Union 294 for 35 years. Sabino was born to Jose Leondro and Manuelita Medina on September 9, 1927, in Talpa, New Mexico. Sabino served in the U.S. Army, 332nd Engineers General Services Regiment in Germany during World War II. Sabino married Annie V. Hernandez on September 12, 1948, in Reedley, California. Sabino and Annie raised their four children in Visalia, California. Sabino is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Leondro and Manuelita Medina, his brothers, Jose Faustin Medina, Candido Medina and Frank Medina, his sisters, Lee Quinto, Veroniz Morales, brothers-in-laws, Nash Quinto and Marcial Morales, Sr., and sister-in-law, Lucy Medina.
Sabino is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie, daughters Victoria and her husband Joe Acosta, Sr., Elizabeth and her husband Shiro Nishimora, Rebecca and her husband, Rudy Lira, Jr. and son, Sabino, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Medina. Eleven grandchildren, Joe Acosta, Jr., Sabino Medina, III, Santiago Medina, Rudy Joaquin Lira, III, Vincent Sabino Lira, Faustin Medina, Deborah Acosta, Kamiya, Yikica, Linda Nishimora and Sophia Grace Medina, four great-grandchildren, Joseph Acosta, Jason Acosta, Presley Acosta and Drew Acosta. Sabino enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening and gambling in Laughlin with his beloved wife. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Services will be Friday, July 20, 2012, Miller Memorial Chapel at 9:00 a.m. and graveside services at 10:00 a.m. at Visalia Cemetery.
