My husband, Glen Dillon, went to grade school with Richard. They were best of friends and Glen has many fond memories from their time together, prior to Richard and his family being forced to move away. For many years Glen had hoped Richard would move back, but that didn't happen. 

With the help of a friend who has Ancestry.com in the summer of 2015, we discovered that Richard had passed away just months before. We visit friends in Visalia every few years and Glen was so sad to realize that Richard was living not far away. 

I've attached a photo taken when the boys were in 5th grade. It's the only one we have of Glen, Richard, and other 5th grade friends. Glen would love to connect with Richard's family if they so desire. Please reach out to us via the email I used to post this message. 

My husband, Glen Dillon, was "best friends" with Richard when they were in grade school in Coalinga. He has never forgotten the time when the Koda family "disappeared", never to be seen again in the community. We just recently discovered some of Richard's path to Arkansas while visiting the Minidoka National Historical Site. Glen was brought to tears when we discovered Richard was living near Visalia when he passed 4 years ago. We've been there many times visiting another classmate from Glen's youth. If only we'd know Richard was there. I'm attaching a photo taken when both were in 5th grade. Glen's mom had it in a photo album. Thought you might like to see it. Would love to connect with family if possible. 

Hello Dad. I think about the amazing accomplishments you achieved in your life, both personal and professional. I think of how when you were about to adopt Leslie, they brought out the child that was most in need (she needed heart surgery), and you saying distinctly and simply " We'll take her". I remember it all..  hunting at Red Mountain, fishing, camping, clamming, golfing, poker games at the house. I know that you and Ed, Heiti, Herb and others would purposely drop change under the table, where I would sit, and scramble to grab it up.."finders keepers". Your friends were the best people, and very kind. I remember you helping to catch lizards for pets, and putting the tarantula in a potato chip bag. I remember the civil war sites, travel across the U.S., visiting the internment camp,  gun shows, albolene, the ice capades, advise given, your love for mom,... life.. I am sorry your gone, but am glad your at peace.
