Ralph is survived by his wife Delores Smith, his daughter Michelle Dysart and husband Randy, two grandchildren Joshua and Elizabeth Dysart. As well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Annie Smith, and three brothers Edward, Travis, and Murrell.
Ralph became a Christian in the late 1970's and was so moved that he believed he needed to make a public statement professing his decision for Christ. This prompted a family trip to a Billy Graham crusade in Los Angeles where the family went forward together during the altar call. He lived out his life as a kind and generous husband, father, grandfather, friend and co-worker. Over the years, Ralph and his family attended Visalia Nazarene and the Visalia Church of God.
Ralph moved to Central California from Texas as a teenage boy with his parents and three brothers. As a young man he was called to serve his country during the
Korean War. He served in the Army during the Korean War from April 26, 1951 through March 5, 1954. He served as a motor pool driver for many of the officers and escorted many of them back and forth to arms talks. He was a member of the American Legion.
He worked at many jobs over the years, many times two or three at once. He served the Visalia Unified School District for 28 years. Ralph retired as an Operations Supervisor. He loved making the school look its best, and took that job personally. Ralph also volunteered cleaning at his church over the years, always without fanfare or notice. He also served after his retirement as a crossing guard for Visalia's Golden Oak and Crestwood schools, many knew him and waved daily. We will all miss him.
