Norberto Padilla Perez

Norberto Perez Padilla was born on August 7, 1929 in Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, Mexico to Francisco Perez and Juanita Padilla. He married the love of his life, Maria Elvira Tostado in 1957. As a young husband, Norberto worked to provide for his family; from 1967 to 1972, he worked in factories in Santa Monica. From 1972 to 1973, Norberto moved his family to Tijuana, Mexico where he was able to make weekly visits. During these times, he was always providing for his family. In 1974, Norberto migrated with his entire family to Cutler, California where his sister Petra De La Cruz and Rumaldo Perez had already established their homes.

Norberto Perez made a living as a farm laborer. He labored with his wife on weekdays and on many weekends and summers, he had his entire family at his side laboring in olive groves, orange orchards, raisin grapes, and tomato fields. Norberto was affectionately known as “Tio Beto” because his actual niece and nephew worked in the same picking crew. Norberto also had a deep love for birds and many people came to his home to buy them as pets. He also kept a vegetable garden and enjoyed growing “nopales” for his neighbors. Norberto was devout Catholic. He was a man of faith and enjoyed hosting prayer group in his home. Norberto died peacefully at his home in Cutler with his family at his side on May 16, 2020.

Norberto is survived by his wife, Maria Elvira Perez; his eight children: Maria Rodriguez, Arturo Perez, Raul Perez, Martha Vasquez, Jose Perez, Norberto Perez Jr., Lupe Perez, and Carlos Perez. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The Perez Family would like to thank Hospice and all who have shown their love, prayers, and support for the family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 10am to 12 noon at Miller Memorial Chapel 1120 West Goshen Avenue, Visalia, CA 93291. A Catholic Graveside Service will held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 1:0 pm. at Smith Mountain Cemetery of Dinuba.
