Michael “Mike” Nuñez, 60, peacefully passed away on March 8, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. Michael was born on November 3, 1963, in Tijuana, Mexico to Miguel Nuñez and Felicitas Lopez Nuñez and was the first of 5 children. Michael came to the United States at the age of 2, where he was raised and lived in the San Fernando Valley. He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1981.
Michael married his soulmate, Valerie, in March of 1989 in Los Angeles, CA. Together they had four children – Michael III, Erika, Richard, and Brandon. Michael loved the quiet, simple life that Visalia had to offer and together, Michael and Valerie moved their family to Visalia in 1992.
Michael worked with Serpa Packaging for 28 years, up until his passing. As a Service Technician with the company, he enjoyed the traveling that was associated with the job. He was fortunate to meet and see different people and places around the world. But his favorite thing about work was being able to teach and pass down all the knowledge he had acquired from his many years to his peers – so make him proud, boys!
The thing that Michael enjoyed the most was spending time with his family, grandkids and BBQing with a Modelo in his hand. He looked forward to Saturday evenings in the backyard surrounded by family, good BBQ, and music.
Michael is survived by his wife of 35 years, Valerie, four children – Michael Nuñez III, Erika E. Felix (Natalie Felix), Richard G. Nuñez (Erika Hamm), Brandon J. Nuñez (Zuri Garcia), and two grandchildren - Delilah M. R. Nuñez, and Sebastian A. J. Nuñez, all from Visalia, CA. He is also survived by one brother James “Jimmy” Nuñez of Sun Valley, CA, one sister Teresa Kirts (Gene Kirts) of San Antonio, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Charles “Kiko” Nuñez, and sister Irma L. Avila.
Michael also leaves numerous family and friends to cherish his memory.
