The daughter of Llewellyn and Leona (Love) Freeman, Margie was born in 1932 in Argonia, Kansas, the seventh of ten children. In the early 1940s, the family relocated to Tulare, California where Margie graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1950. Soon after, Margie married the love of her life, Maynard Echols. They were married for 46 years, and had two children, Gene Allen and Donna Darlene. Margie was a resident of Visalia for many years, and later, Tulare in retirement. She lived a life full of blessings, and will surely be missed by all who knew her. As the children grew older, Margie worked for Visalia Unified School District as a teachers’ aide for 25 years. Her love of children was apparent to all who knew her, and she dedicated her life to serving in a variety of ways in the school system. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at Visalia Nazarene Church, and later in life, worked as the Nursery Coordinator for Prosperity Baptist Church in Tulare. Margie loved music as well, and could often be seen playing hymns on the autoharp and the piano. She shared her love of music with her family, and greatly enjoyed attending community concerts throughout her life. Margie also had a passion for teaching, often volunteering her time in later years tutoring adult students at the Tulare library. Margie is preceded in death by three husbands, Maynard Echols, Trent “Hank” Henry, and Roy York, as well as her parents, two brothers, five sisters, and her grandson Justin Loomis. Margie leaves behind two children, Gene (Sheri) Echols of Exeter, and Donna (Richard) Loomis of Tulare, two sisters, Lorene Porter and Leona Korenwinder, both of Tulare, grandchildren Gregory and Angela Echols of Hogansville, Georgia, Jimmy (Jennifer) Loomis of Reedley, and numerous great grandchildren. While we mourn her passing, we are thankful that she is with her savior, Jesus Christ. We are thankful for her life, and the impact she had on the many people who knew her.
