Luetta Parker was born in Linn Grove, Iowa to Peter and Etta Raveling. Luetta had a brother and 3 sisters. She grew up on the family farm where they raised corn, soybeans and hogs. Luetta graduated from Momingside College and began teaching elementary school. Luetta met the love of her life Keith Parker on a blind date — they were with other people! They knew that they were meant to be together. They married on June 12th, 1949 and were happily married until Keith passed away in 2007. Their first child, Tim Parker was born in Iowa. They then moved to southern California where Luetta was a homemaker and two more children were added to the family, Sharman and Amy. The family moved to Visalia in 1968 where they were the proud owners of 2 Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors Ice Cream stores in Visalia. They loved the business and eventually owned ice cream stores in Tulare and Porterville as well. Luetta was the cake decorator and she trained her daughters and many others the artistic skill. Luetta was a hard worker and expected the same from all of the employees. Keith and Luetta developed many friendships from their time as business owners and they eventually retired and sold the stores.
They were very active in their church, Saviors Community, where they loved to greet everyone on Sunday mornings. Luetta loved to bake treats for her family and enjoyed gardening. She found time to sew doll dresses, Raggedy Ann dolls, dresses for her daughters and her granddaughter Katy too. Her favorite time of the year was the Fall because she would watch college football — and if Nebraska was playing she was happy. Luetta also loved watching Katy play volleyball at Golden West and sat bottom row center court. Luetta was a kind, caring, joyful, God loving woman. She was a Christian who loved the Lord and lived her life as such.
Luetta leaves behind her son Tim (Becky) their children Daniel, Sarah and Elizabeth, Daughters Sharman and Amy (Greg Gunn) and their children Travis and Katy. Luetta also had 7 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind 2 sisters, Mary Alice Plagman and Marvis Homby.
