Joseph Cardoza Jacques Jr.

Joseph was born in Visalia, California on March 20, 1943 to Joseph Cardoza Jacques, Sr. and Dorothy Lee Benevedes Jacques. To this union was born two children, Joseph Cardoza Jacques, Jr., and Arlene Jacques, whom were always very close to each other.

On August 24, 1968, Joseph married Janice L. Irvin in Reno, Nevada and they made their home in Visalia. Janice was a faithful, loving wife for 44 years. His life’s work was to volunteer, which sent him to Washington DC in 1994. Joseph loved music and writing and was self- taught and learned on the computer. He could create anything. Joseph spent a decade working on family history and making books, which he gave as Christmas gifts to his family. He spent his life giving of himself and his time to others. He loved God, Family and Friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Cardoza Jacques, Sr. and his mother-in-law, Ima Louise Irvin.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Janice; his mother Dorothy Benevedes Reneker; his sister, Arlene Jacques, and her daughters, Raquel, and Brandy and husband, Vincent; his great nephew, Anthony Pensotti; three great nieces, Brittney, Gianna and Gabriella and his great, great niece, Brooklynn. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins and many extended family members that meant so much to him. On Janice’s side of the family, Joseph leaves his father-in-law Manuel E. Irvin; three brother-in-laws, Allen , Lee and Eddie as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Joseph is also survived by a half sister, Judy and two half brothers, Jess and Rick.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Father Walter Combs will officiate.
