He was born on November 6, 1938 in Tulare, California to Frank and Cleone Perry. James graduated from Mt. Whitney High School of Visalia with the Class of 1956. Shortly after graduation, he entered the United States Navy, serving from 1956 to 1959 aboard the USS Philippine Sea and the USS Yorktown, attaining the rank of EM3. After the navy James worked with his father in the family business, Perry's Appliance. After more than 20 years with Central Valley Meat Co. , Jim retired in 2005.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Diana Lynn Perry and his nephew Donald Lee Behnke.
He is survived by his two daughters, Danielle Perry Jones and Pamela Perry Waller; son Christopher Jordan; eight grandchildren; brother Leonard Perry; sister Joan Perry Behnke; three nephews and three nieces.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 4 – 6 p.m. with recitation of rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11:30 am at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave in Visalia. Burial will be at the Visalia District Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’ name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
