James was born in La Jolla, California on December 13, 1952 to William Raymond Miller and Eileen Henrietta (Noesen) Miller. He graduated from Buchser High School in Santa Clara, California in 1971. James entered the United States Air Force in July of 1971, serving in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Following his discharge in 1972 he married the love of his life and his brown eyed girl, Mary Kathleen Atkinson at St. Justin’s Catholic Church in Santa Clara, California on April 8, 1972. James and Mary made the home in San Jose, California until 1980 at which time they moved to Visalia to make their home and raise their children, Lucas and Tina. They were married for 46 years. James worked for Prudential Uniforms and then began long haul truck driving for Transfer Drivers, Inc, Mamo Trucking, Inc. and Morgan for many years. He last worked as a taxi driver for seven years.
Jim’s hobbies were listening to music and playing his keyboard. He was a lifelong San Francisco Giant fan and recently became a Warrior fan. James coached soccer for both of his children, baseball for Lucas and softball for Tina.
James enjoyed being home and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was their greatest fan in all of their endeavors
Jimbo had his own sense of humor and was very kind hearted and giving. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eileen and by his brother Ric Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his son Lucas Miller and his wife, Jenni; his daughter Tina Weeaks and her husband Robert; his siblings, Barb Miller, Terry Whitney, William Miller, Gerri Stalnaker, Eileen Miller and Patrick Miller; five very special grandchildren Rylie, Jeremiah, Carter, Cora, Jaxon and one very special great grandson Greyson James.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12 noon at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia.
