He moved to Arkansas as a child where he worked on the family farm. He joined the Army in 1942 and served 32 months in Africa, France and Germany during World War II.
Glenn moved to California in 1953 and eventually settled in Huron where he worked for McIlroy Farm Equipment for close to 50 years as a welder. He continued working into his 80’s, retiring as a welding supervisor. Glenn moved to Visalia in 2001 to be closer to family. His hobbies included fishing and camping and most of all “cooking”.
Glenn was a sweet man with a wonderful disposition. He had a remarkable mind, remembering “everything”. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Clyde Gilbert and Millie Knapp; son, Clyde (Sonny) Knapp; daughter, Laura Burger; brothers, Darrell, Melvin and Kenneth Knapp; sisters, Bernice Brister and Betty Simpson.
He is survived by his wife, Cosetta Knapp of Visalia; brother, Lee Knapp of Oklahoma; sister, Nina Jacobs of Oklahoma; daughter, Linda Giotto (Larry) of Visalia; grandsons, Jeremy Knauer (Paula) of Tulare, Joey Knauer of Visalia; Ryan Knapp of Fresno, and Michael and Stuart Burger of Kentucky; great granddaughters, Madison and Ashleigh Knauer of Tulare and Brooke Knauer of Visalia and several nieces and nephews.
We would also like to convey a special thanks to Rosie Gutierrez who helped with his care in the last few months and to Linda McCuin, his “second” daughter.
