Born in 1924 in Perth, Australia, on the 13th of February. Doreen received her schooling in Australia before working as a seamstress for most of her young adult life. She met her husband who was a American Navy Sailor during WWII. Doreen came to the States after the war. Doreen was a war bride and made her voyage to the United States by ship. She braved the long journey with her two sons Glenn and Wayne all the way to San Francisco. From there she was bused to Los Angeles where she was reunited with her husband. Doreen later had her daughter Donna. Doreen remained in Southern California for many years before moving to Visalia, to be closer to her family.
Doreen loved dachshunds and had several through the years. She also enjoyed sewing many different things. Doreen enjoyed sharing her stories from Australia and watching her favorite soaps, that she made sure were taped every day. Her favorite time of the day was her tea time. She enjoyed tea with all her meals and holidays. Doreen was a strong woman that always did things on her own terms. She was witty and enjoyed good humor. She was blessed by good family and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn and Wayne; her daughter Donna, as well as 8 grandchildren,3 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren most living in California, which brought great joy to her later years.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA.
