Diane Gilbert Hyde of Visalia passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on February 3, 2021. Diane was born to the late John Gilbert and Betty May Gilbert on December 22, 1949. Diane expressed kindness that brightened the lives of those around her. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren. She had a loving and gentle spirit but she also had undeniable strength that can be attributed to growing up with two older brothers, Jack Gilbert and late brother, Doug Gilbert. She was a natural athlete in many ways and enjoyed years of swimming and golf.
Diane navigated life with beauty, grace and humor. She had a beautiful smile that was contagious and she loved to laugh. Diane had a special way of appreciating the simple pleasures of life. She never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her and only saw the value of focusing on the positive aspects in life and speaking kindly of others.
Diane enjoyed being an active member of her community in Visalia and had a strong Christian faith. She belonged to St. Paul’s Anglican Church and participated in the church’s bible study group, knitting club and volunteered at church events. Diane also participated in other local clubs such as Kaweah Collectors, Gardening Club, Visalia Art League, and volunteered at Kaweah Delta's Hospital Guild.
Diane studied art at the College of Sequoias and she carried her passion for art throughout her entire life. She took great enjoyment in many art forms such as pottery, ceramics, drawing, crafting, painting and sewing.
Diane is survived by her son Brian Hyde and wife, Stacy and daughter Jennifer Hyde O'Kane and husband, Ryan. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Elise, Audrey, Grant, Elliott, and Oliver.
Donations in Diane’s behalf can be sent to St. Paul’s Anglican Church at 2918 W. Main Street, Visalia, CA 93291. Fond memories, expressions of sympathy and condolences can be made at www.millerchapel.com.
