David was born in Visalia on February 18, 1938 to Joseph P. and Mary B. Silva. He attended George McCann School and Redwood High School, graduating with the Class of 57. David worked for Early California Foods as an Olive Processor for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He was a volunteer for the United States Forrest Service. David was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan. David’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, bowling and gardening. He enjoyed sharing his produce with family, friends and neighbors.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George and his sister Mary Ann.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Nancy of Visalia; daughter Tina Silva Irwin and husband, Eddie of Tulare; stepdaughter, Beverly McMahan of Visalia; stepson John McMahan and wife, Michelle and granddaughter Brittany McMahan, all of Visalia; brothers, Richard Silva and wife Ann of Visalia and Eddie Silva of Visalia; sisters, Madeline Silva of Sacramento, CA, Addie Nicholas and husband, Roy of Elk Grove, CA, Gloria Lombardi and husband, Joe of Fresno, CA and Rosemary Huckaby and husband, Ken of Tulare, CA and many, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave, Visalia. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave.
