It is with heavy hearts and a strong, everlasting faith in God, that the family of Danny John Rivera Sr. announce his passing. Danny passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the age of 81. He leaves behind a legacy of happiness, laughter, and cherished memories to all those who knew him.
Danny was born in Los Alamitos, CA on August 7, 1942. As one (1) of ten (10) siblings, he worked hard to help his father, Eusevio Rivera, and his mother, Esther Rivera (both preceded in death) in the home. At a young age, he learned the value of hard work and dedication to his family.
His dedication to family extended beyond his childhood. As an adult, Danny was a devoted spouse, a parent, a cherished grandparent, and great-grandparent. Danny is preceded in death by his first wife, Lydia Rivera, and his second wife, Frances Rivera. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Navarro, son-in-law Pedro Navarro, and his son, Eddie Rivera. He is preceded in death by his son, Danny Rivera, Jr. Danny is survived by his grandchildren, Ana Claudia Navarro, David Navarro, Shawna Rivera, Derrick Rivera, and Amber Brown-Rivera, and great-grandchildren that include Haylie and Malachi Rivera.
A welder by trade, Danny worked at the Lake Company in Visalia. Although not a member of any civic organizations, he volunteered his time during the Christmas season at Toys for Tots. Along with his passion for creating long-lasting Christmas memories in the hearts of local children, Danny had a passion for dancing, deep-sea fishing, and he was a big Raiders fan. For fun, Danny enjoyed trying his hand at various casinos in the valley and always prided himself in his appearance. His fashion was always top-notch! Danny loved his dog, Precious who now resides with his great-granddaughter, Haylie.
Danny is preceded in death by four of his siblings: Marion Balcazar, Tony Rivera, Eddie Rivera, and Nadine Diaz (all from the San Joaquin Valley). He is survived by his siblings Cruz Gastello, Beatrice Rivera, Arthur Rivera, Esther Gardner, and his youngest sister, BarbaraJean Sheldon.
Although he is no longer physically with us, Danny’s spirit will continue to dwell in the hearts of all those that he touched. His legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all. May his memory be a blessing and may Danny rest in eternal peace.
