January 26, 1928 – December 28, 2017
Christine passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 28.
Born in Venice, California, to Inez and Mason Walker, she moved to Visalia with her mother after losing her father at the age of 8. She graduated from Visalia Unified High School in 1945 and attended College of the Sequoias.
Chris met her future husband, Addison Clark, when she was fourteen. With the exception of the “war years”, they were inseparable for the next 72 years until Add’s death in 2013. She was by his side as they started a farm business in 1950 and was the farm book keeper for the next 50 years. She always did her share to contribute, working as a secretary at the Ag Commissioner’s Office, Production Credit and the University Of California while Add finished his education at UC Davis. In later years, she joked about her career in “riveting journalism” by writing a social column in the Exeter Sun newspaper.
She loved her garden, raised a few puppies and painted beautiful pictures. Her best role though was as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love and support will be missed, but never forgotten.
One of her most recent pleasures was on Christmas Day 2014 when the Visalia Times Delta featured her in an article with a large photo of on the front page. She and a friend were standing in flood waters on Main Street during the 1945 flood with rain boots on and umbrellas in hand . It was a wonderful remembrance of days gone by. She received lots of comments and connections from friends about the article.
Her husband and daughter Sally preceded her in death. She is survived by her son John and wife Becky Clark of Visalia and her grandchildren whom she adored. Grandson Cody Clark and his wife Jillian live in San Diego. Granddaughter Renee Clark and her fiancée Evan King live in Visalia. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and the team of wonderful care givers at Quail Park where she resided for the last four years. The family will forever be grateful for their loving care.
Remembrances may be made to a favorite charity for those who wish to do so. A private service will be held.
