Carol Ann Thompson of Visalia passed away on June 7, 2014 following a brief illness. Born on September 9, 1943 to Lula Belle Dugan in Florence, Arizona , she moved to Visalia in 1947. Carol graduated from Mt. Whitney High School. She was employed in banking for many years, holding positions with United Calif. Bank and Visalia Community Bank. She also served as Finance and Insurance Mgr. for Arnold Wiebe Automotive for a period of time followed by a term as Branch Manager of Fireside Thrift.
Carol met the love of her life Dick some 35 years ago and they enjoyed a quality life of traveling, golfing and as active members of the Benevolent
& Protective Order of Elks. She was also a member of Women of the Moose, Visalia Chap. 794. Carol held Officer positions with the Tulare Elks Lodge, earning Officer of the Year honors in 2009 before transferring to the Visalia Elks Lodge. Carol and Dick were former members of the Visalia Country Club with Carol serving as Captain of the Women’s Golf Club in 2007. She was an avid socializer and enjoyed hosting annual Thompson Pool and Christmas parties as well as being an active participant in most of the Elks Lodge social functions. In her spare time she enjoyed crafts, ceramics and was an accomplished artist.
Carol is survived by her Husband Dick, son Richard Jr. and wife Charlene Thompson of Visalia, daughter Suzanne and husband Tim Hofer of Aberdeen, So. Dakota, Nephews and Nieces Bradley and Maria Smith of Lancaster, Ca., Matthew and Cynthia Smith of Palmdale, Ca. and Russell and Michelle Smith of Camarillo, Ca. She also leaves six Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her Mother Lula Belle Dugan, sons Ricky and Kenny Farnsworth, son Daniel Thompson, Brother-in-law Murrell Smith and her Sister and Best Friend in life Sue Smith. She also leaves her lovable Jack Russell Terrier Princess.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at the Visalia Elks Lodge, 3100 W. Main on Sat. Jun 14, 2014 @ 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association are welcomed.
