Betty Marie (Lindsey) Petty passed away peacefully in Linwood Meadows Care Center-Visalia on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the age of 89. She will be remembered as a kind and generous friend to all who met her
Betty was born on January 14, 1929 in Stamford, TX to Marvin Quint (Buster) Lindsey and Mamie Smith Lindsey. She married Thomas Petty, her high school sweetheart on October 24, 1946 in New Hope, TX. Nine months later the couple moved to Visalia where in time they welcomed three children while building a life together. She was an early member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Visalia, and later was active in the Sierra Baptist Church. All the while working many years at Visalia Citrus and Jostens. She loved to work in the yard to keep the lawn free of weeds and, in her later years, volunteered on election day as a precinct worker.
Betty is survived by her three children, Thomas Milton of Sherman Oaks, CA, Donna Moody of Visalia, and Leonard Scott of San Diego, CA. One brother Tommy Lindsey of Avoca, TX, three grandchildren, Stefanie, Fredric and Chris, and two great-grandchildren, Colin and Vanessa, and a score of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Linwood Meadows Care Center for their dedication to Betty during her three-year stay.
Graveside services will be held at 9 am on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Visalia District Cemetery with a reception to follow at Sierra Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Wilson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Betty's life.
