William “Bill” Freeman, 84, passed away at home on December 22, 2016 surrounded by family and friends. Bill retired from the U.S. Navy after proudly serving for 24 years. He also retired from the Virginia Employment Commission after 18 years of service. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 166 and the Sunshine Club at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Bill enjoyed camping, Bluegrass music, crossword puzzles and Bingo.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy “Dot”; daughter, Joy Bryant; 2 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his beloved pets, Marty and Teddy; 2 brothers, Ray Tom and Wayman Bob Freeman; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in VA Beach with burial to follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassion International, St. Jude Children’s Research or charity of your choice. Many thanks to all First Responders who came to the home to assist the family.
