William David Edwards was born May 5, 1952 in London, England. His family lived all over the United States, but finally settled in Virginia Beach in 1963. Dave met Cynthia Burden in 1968 and they married in 1971. They had two daughters. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and spent time stationed in Thailand. Later, he found a position at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a blacksmith in the Forge Shop. He spent 36 years at NNSY before retiring as the Forge Shop Supervisor.
Dave was blessed with a great musical gift that he discovered at a very young age. He as a member of many bands and musical groups over the years, but he was most proud of his role on the Praise Team at Virginia Beach Community Chapel and his two groups: Lost Then Found and Incognito Brothers.
Dave was predeceased by his father, William Jasper Edwards. Left behind to remember Dave on this Earth are his wife of 46 years, Cynthia Burden Edwards; daughter, Jennifer Edwards Harrell and her husband James; daughter, Melissa Patrice Edwards; grandchildren: Cullen Harrell, Emily Edwards, Logan Warden, Pearl Harrell, and Shelby Warden; mother, Sara McKeown Edwards; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends.
Dave was a beloved husband, cherished son, hands-on Daddy, super-fun Papa, and a friend to all. We will very much miss his voice, his laughter, his whistling, and his quiet strength and companionship. We are comforted in knowing that Dave now sings at the feet of Jesus and that we will be reunited with him again one day.
