Walter Kelly, Jr., 89 passed away on Friday in Chesapeake. He was born in Whaleyville, VA on November 28, 1925 to the late Walter and Elnora Kelly. Walter’s values and upbringing were implemented by his loving aunt, Iola Parker. A devoted father, he valued celebrating family graduations and the birth of his two granddaughters. His proudest career accomplishments are Communication Engineer with the Army and as an Aircraft Afterburner Specialist at Naval Station Norfolk. Walter was a member of the American Legion Post 5 in Norfolk. He is survived by his children, Voncier Kelly and Remedeas Kelly-Weekes, two grandchildren, one brother and three sisters. Walter was one of eight children. A grand sense of humor, Walter could keep you laughing and touched many hearts, he will be greatly missed.
A service will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday at Kellum Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior starting at 9am. Burial will follow the service at Rosewood Memorial Park where US Army military honors will be rendered. A reception will follow after the burial at Kellum Funeral Home.
