Dr. Byrd was my favorite doctor she always made me feel at ease during my appointment . She is greatly missed. May the family find comfort in knowing she touched so many lives.


Oh my God. I just learned of Dr Byrd’s passing.  I am in shock as if this just happened and for me it did.  I remembered my last time seeing her.  I would stop by from time to see her.  We talked reminisced about my various appointments and we cried as I am so grateful to her for our many talks and all the hugs we shared.  She would come into the room always flashing that bright smile and say Roser it’s good to see you.  I would reply in. Kind Doc good to see you.  

Truly miss my Doc

I was completely heartbroken just now when I looked up the number to Reproductive Health Care to make a long-overdue appointment with Dr. Sharon Byrd and found instead that such a beautiful precious sister in Christ had gone home to be with the Lord. Although I hadn't seen her in a minute I fondly remember her wonderful sense of humor, her comical stories and her genuine love for people.  There was never a visit where she didn't greet me with a "Hi Squeamish", because as she named me,  I was squeamish about everything.  My heart aches. I loved and honored her.  My condolences and prayers to her family and friends.  Dr. Byrd you are truly treasured & you will be greatly missed.  M. Goldsborough

To the family of Dr. Byrd I extend my sincerest condolences to you at the homegoing of your wife, mother, & grandmother.  Dr. Byrd taught me a great deal about providing care.  She will be truly missed.  

I met Dr. Byrd back in the early 1990s when working at Bayside Hospital. I was immediately attracted to her calmness, practical approach to issues and kindness to her patients and to us staff. She was the kind of doctor that you want in your corner and I referred many a gal to her for services. Fast forward, she came to work for us here at the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health in our clinic services. It was like old times. The comraderie between this wonderful practitioner and her clients and staff was second to none. I so remember her laughter. She and I had a common interest in Native American history/culture and I would bring her articles that I found on local and North Carolina tribes and tribal issues. We had some wonderful conversations. She loved her family so much and her faith was evident in her everyday life. It has been an honor and a priviledge  to have worked along side her over the years and she is indeed, a forever friend.  Rest in peace. 

I was so "blessed" to work for Dr. Byrd over 21 years. We became very good friends and I have so many memories I could share.  One of them was when we both sat on her bed as the second plane hit on 9/11.  Her first thoughts at that time was to warn her family.  I also will never forget the day my Mom died suddenly in the hospital and I called Dr. Byrd in tears. She closed down her office early and showed up at the hospital to support me during my time of great sorrow.  Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her house started filling up early with special gifts for each member of her family. She just loved to give.  Dr. Byrd will always have a special place in my heart.  She fought the good fight, she finished the race and she kept the faith.



My condolences and prayers to the family. Praying that you all find comfort and strength during this difficult time. Doc had been on my mind heavy over the past few months. 
I met Dr. Byrd initially as a patient when I first moved to Va Beach. By the end of the visit she offered me a job lol. She and I grew very close over the time I spent working with her. I looked at her as a second mom.She would have me cook for her from time to time. She loved my meatballs and sweet potato pie, she once told me if you can eat the pie cold then you know that’s some good pie lol. 
She had such a big heart and taught me so many life lessons.

Doc you will truly be missed.

Dr. Sharon  Byrd- Blow,  I will always remember your smile.  When I walk into the room I would dance for you, how you would laugh and laugh.  We watched a cowboy movie and prayed together. I will not forget you. May you rest in the loving arms of Jesus.  Love you caregiver and friend Cora Jones.

Dr. Byrd was one of my favorite doctors at Bayside hospital.  I worked there as a nurse for 13 years.  I always looked forward to her visits to the postpartum unit.  She told the most interesting stories, and was always positive and funny. I admired her positive and upbeat outlook on life in general.  I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was an inspiration and a joy. She will most certainly be missed.

Dr. Byrd was a wonderful soul. She was my OB Gyn specialist for many years. Her words of health and life always encouraged me to be proactive and fit for life! Prayers to her family!

It has been many years since I have seen Sharon but she had a great impact on my nursing in Labor and Delivery.  She was a great teacher and taught me many things that I used over the years.  My heart breaks for her family.  Rest peacefully Dr. Byrd.  

I was Dr. Byrd’s patient for 30 years. Her care, concern and compassion were evident in every appointment and procedure. Such a genuine person, she led with her faith and was truly the hands and feet of Christ here on earth. I am so grateful to have known her and been in her care. My heart is heavy, but I know Dr. Byrd is home with her Savior. May God bless her family through this period of loss and grief.  My prayers are with you. 

I was a patient of Dr. Byrd back in the late 80's and I never forgot her.  Dr. Byrd always took great care of me. 

To the Bryd-Blow Family,
May the God of peace and comfort be with you and your family during the hour of your bereavement. I remember Dr.  Byrd with the fondest memories as she performed my surgery in 1993. What a wonderful doctor, sister-in-Christ and friend. She will be missed, but we take assurance and confidence in God’s word that she is with her Heavenly Father. In the verse, John 16:20, Jesus said,  “I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to me, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve, but your grief will suddenly turn to wonderful joy. “ (NLT) Knowing that she is home with her Father will bring overwhelming joy to your heart. Weeping endures for a night, but JOY comes in the morning. You have such precious memories and she leaves a Legacy of Care,  Love and Service to Mankind and to God. These memories are precious for her family to cherish. We loved her, but God loved her best.

To Sally, Karen, and the rest of the family.  I am saddened to hear that Sharon has passed away.  I remember her coming to my parents house in the country when she was just a teenager.  I would often see her when she came to visit her aunt (my adopted aunt), who I lived with when I moved to Washington, DC.  Even though many years passed away without us seeing or communicating with each other, I would often ask about her because she was a part of my extended family. The profession she chose reflected that she was a lovely person who cared deeply for others.  Treasure the precious memories and let them guide and comfort you during this difficult time.  Time and prayers are the keys to helping to ease the pain.


My condolences to your family. I met Dr. B(which is what I called her) when I did my externship at her office.  She took me under her wing and taught me so much. She hired me right out of Medical Careers Institute.  We became close and one time she had a meeting at her house and I came over to help her cook and clean. We would sit in her office at the end of the day and talk about God. When I would sporadically call her, she would tell me that sometimes she would hear my voice saying "hey Dr. B!! You will be sorely missed!!

Sharon has been a great friend and colleague of mine for greater than 20 years caring for the woman in the Hampton Road area. I have watched her treating her patients both surgically and medically. I have seen the compassion and unbelievable support she provided to her patients,  including giving out her personal phone number,  for immediate attention. 
Dr. Bryd has always been a person of great faith that has guided her including developing medical care in Liberia where she went multiple times while still caring for her community in Va Beach. 
Sharon was a tireless advocate for women rights. 
I have always enjoyed the friendship and support that I was able to share with Dr. Bryd.
She was a "sister " from a mother which will be sorely missed. 
Thru her full life, if you knew Sharon, she did it her way!
Though her journey here is over, take joy that she is now at home with her father. 
I will miss you my sister!!



My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family .  I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Byrd at Virginia Beach Department of Public Health. I will never forget her warmth, laughter,  and smile that she brought to the clinic each and every day. I will always remember the way that I felt, and the smile on her face when she gave  me one of her favorite sodas that she drank on a daily basis. I knew how much she loved sugar-free Coca Cola, and she gave one of them to me out of the blue. I am not a soda drinker but I was so honored that she gave it to me and I still have it today. This is a true testament of her kindness and  her love for her patients and staff. She will be missed and I am so sorry for your loss.

You were a spiritual mother and medical advisor to me.
Whenever you came to Liberia, I drove you around to meet people and do your business. You took a good care of me and made me to laugh in Liberia and while I was in America, at Virginia, beach VA.
I have a special gift you give me, which is a wrist watch and no one dares touches it.
Your death will make me to keep it more and more.

Dr Bryd was a great womam of God who was full of so much love, compassion, and always gave words of encouragement to her patients. Dr. Byrd was my doctor for 33 years and I grew to love her as a friend. There was nothing that I couldn't talk to her about and she would always give me good Godly advice.  I rember when I was going through the infertility rollercoaster and would breakdown in tears, she would take hold of my hands on many occasions and pray for me. We would often have conversations about the Lord and she would often encourage me that God would bless me and my husband Charles with a child after seven years of infertility. God blessed us with our first child in 1995 and our second child in 2000. I remember after the birth of my second child, Dr. Byrd informed me that I wouldn't be able to go home for Thanksgiving. She realized how disappointed I was, she came to the hospital and sat with me as a friend on Thanksgiving evening. She fed my infant baby Elijah, changed his diaper, and rocked him to sleep. We laughed and talked until my family came to my room with Thanksgiving dinner. She was a very humble and special women. I will miss her beyond words. I thank God that we were able to say our final goodbyes in her home office after she confided in me about her illness. We held each other in tears, and she told me that she loved me and that she will miss me. This time, I found myself praying for her. 
My prayers go out to her husband and her family. I pray that the love of God will bring comfort to your broken hearts. She is now rejoicing in Heaven, seeing Jesus face to face. No more pain and suffering. We will see her again on the other side❤.

Sharron was the wife of my cousin Lennon Blow.  I didn't have the pleasure of knowing her very long, but by working with Lennon at NNSY we became friends.
She attended my retirement celebration which meant a lot to me. She will truly be missed by her love ones and friends.
My sincere condolences to you Lennon, and the family.  May God comfort and strengthen in your time of grief.  My Prayers are with you.
