Samuel Vincente Luciana, 61, passed away and went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2023. He was born on October 23, 1962, and was a lifetime resident of the Ocean View Neighborhood in Norfolk, Virginia. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, Mother; Marion Edwards of Jacksonville, Florida, Cousins; Sandy Eisenhart, Cindy Slider, John Saucier, Anita Lightner, Auriela Nuxoll and Billy Hand.
Sam began his industrious and successful work ethic at the early age of 11 as a Virginian-Pilot Newspaper Carrier, which he was very proud of, as at that time the starting age requirement was 13 years old. He found a way in and quickly advanced from 1 route to 2 routes, working both morning and evening editions, 365 days a year, success was brewing. His adult career began with an acceptance into the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprenticeship Program, and he advanced to the position of a Materials Planner level. He then began his final career move to Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. and finished with the title of Manager, Manufacturing Control, where his talent and accomplishments were greatly recognized and valued.
Passionate as Sam was for his career, he was equally driven with a love for sports and fitness. He began participating in the OV Baseball and Football Leagues very early in life, as well. Baseball was his biggest love as a player and was a starter and All-Star throughout his days, until graduation. As a Fan, he loved football and Washington was his NFL lifetime favorite. Sam was a fitness fanatic who worked out and trained at times, every day until his health declined.
Sam will forever be remembered as a generous soul, proud son, trusted companion, honorable and true friend, defender of those in need, immaculate and stylish dresser who loved the Lord and all his family, friends and loved ones. Rest in His peace and comfort Sam, we love you with all our heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, at Rosewood – Kellum Funeral Home (601 N. Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462). A Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM and Memorial Service at 2:00 PM with Interment and followed by a Reception at Rosewood – Kellum.
