IN THE CARE OF
Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home & Rosewood Memorial Park
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Rose Mary Foti, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, godmother, aunt, and friend, who left this world to be with our Lord on November 7, 2024, at the age of 75. Rose's life was a beautiful testament to love, dedication, and creativity, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Born on June 14, 1949, to a large Italian family in Brooklyn, New York, Rose was a woman of remarkable grace, intellect, and heart. She was a proud alumna of Packer Collegiate Institute and Duke University, where she earned her associate and bachelor’s degrees respectively in secretarial sciences and computer systems. Her language skills included French, Spanish, and Italian. She also had a great love of reading and writing. Her professional accomplishments were only a part of who she was, as her greatest fulfillment came from her role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Rose shared a beautiful, enduring marriage of 52 years with her husband, Stephen G. Foti, Sr. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. They raised two wonderful sons, Stephen G. Foti, Jr. and Domenic J. Foti, who were the pride of her life. Rose found enormous joy in her role as Nana to her grandchildren, Sofia Rose Foti and Stephen G. Foti III, whose lives she touched with endless love, care, and wisdom.
As the wife of a career Naval Officer, Rose supported her husband through a career taking their family from coast to coast. She embodied the resilience and strength required by military life, but always with grace and a positive spirit. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, where her family always found refuge, love, and support.
Beyond her devotion to her family, Rose was a woman of many talents. She had a natural gift for crafting, and her artistic inventions covered a wide spectrum from oil painting, knitting, quilting, crocheting, latch hook, and cross-stitching. Her creations were more than just works of art, they were heartfelt expressions of her love. Her musical talents had Rose playing both the saxophone and the piano in her younger years. She had a great love of listening to a vast array of her favorite tunes. Her culinary skills were exemplary and typical of any Italian mother, as she constantly delighted family and friends with her cooking and baking, always creating meals filled with both flavor and love.
A proud resident of Virginia Beach for approximately 40 years, Rose was also a dedicated member of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, where she lived out her faith with quiet devotion and humility.
Rose was preceded in death by her loving parents, Josephine and Domenic Albergo. She is survived by her husband, Steve, her sons, Stephen Jr. and Domenic, her grandchildren, Sofia and Stephen III, her siblings, Ronni Infantino and Joseph R. Albergo, as well as many relatives and friends.
Though Rose will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, creativity, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. In every song she played, every meal she prepared, and every craft she created, she shared her heart, and it is in this love she will live on, reminding us all to cherish each moment, to embrace life’s beauty, and to live with the same grace and kindness she so naturally embodied.
In lieu of flowers, the Foti family would be grateful for donations to the Parkinson's Foundation which aims to improve care and advance research toward a cure for Parkinson’s Disease, in addition to the National Kidney Foundation which funds innovation in kidney disease research, advocacy, and transplantation.
