He was born February 24, 1928 in Washington, D.C. He was a resident of Satellite Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his father, James Murdock; mother, Elizabeth Higgins Murdock; son, Bruce; daughter, Mary; and brothers, Henry and John Murdock.
Robert was a graduate of George Washington University, Washington, DC and of Washington and Lee University Law School where he earned his Juris Doctorate’s Degree. He retired as a Federal Administrative Law Judge. Robert was a retired U.S. Army Colonel. He was a disabled WWII combat veteran who served in the South Pacific and in the Occupation of Japan. He was awarded numerous medals during his military service. Robert was a lifetime member of the MOAA, JAG Corp., the Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, American Clan Gregor Society, Sons of the American Revolution, The D.C. Bar Association, and U.S. Federal Courts including the U.S. Supreme Court BAR.
Robert is survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Murdock of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Douglas Murdock of Satellite Beach, FL; granddaughter, Chantal Murdock of Fairfax, VA; and nephew, James Murdock, Bethesda, MD.
The family will receive friends at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Ave. Rockville, Maryland on Monday,Veterans Day November 11, 2024 from 5-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer Old Post Chapel at 10:45 am, Tuesday, November 12, 2024 with full military honors.
