He was born on September 9, 1921 in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the son of the late Eugene and Alice Lesperance. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Conflict, retiring as a Master Chief with 32 years of service. He was a member of VFW. Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Ellis Lesperance and step daughter, Patricia Thomas and sister, Joan Faria.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 47 years, Ora Lee Lesperance; children, Wayne Francis Lesperance, Laurel Lynn Sutton, Eileen Marie Papke; 11 grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren and an abundance of great-grandchildren; step-children, Bobby Rogers and Janice Lee Salmon; sister, Shirley Lesperance; sister-in-law, Louise Lesperance and numerous other loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with burial to follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
