Mr. Bryant was born in Norfolk, VA and was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia, two brothers and three sisters. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Coast Guard and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Brick Layers Local Union 2, American Legion #199 since 1963, Veterans of Underage Military Service, Aragona Moose Lodge, Business Agent Financial Secretary Local 12 after retirement and a proud member of St. John’s Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Darlene P. Bryant; a son John Bryant, daughter Ella Salmon; brother Charlie Bryant, two sisters Honey Bowen and Margaret Ann Bell; two grandchildren Alisha and Josh Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Baptist Church, 2300 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23453. Inurnment will be private at Rosewood Memorial Park.
