Raymond R. Rowley

Ray will be remembered for his love of God, his family and his country. He retired from the Navy after serving for 25 years. He was a member of Kempsville Masonic Lodge No. 196

He was born to the late Ernest and Anna Blanche Rowley on January 30, 1929 in New London, Connecticut.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 49 years, Joan Rowley, and his sons Michael and Raymond Russell Rowley, Jr. , and seven brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Susan Rowley (Jim), Lynne Gambill, Donna Tanner and Steven Rowley (Antje); seven grandchildren, Jason Merritt, Gretchen Gammo, Sarah Gambill ,Madison Tanner, Chris Self (Kayla) and Jackie Self; 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23rd from 6-8pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach VA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 24th at 11 am at Christ Presbyterian Church, 709 Aragona Boulevard, Virginia Beach VA. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church in his memory.
