Obituary of Phyllis James Winslow
Phyllis J. Winslow, 82, passed away peacefully in her home and went to be with her Lord on November 8, 2024. She was born on June 15, 1942 to the late William A. James, Sr. and Edythe M. James. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Marshall Allen Winslow, Sr. and her brother William A. James, Jr. Phyllis was raised in Norfolk, VA and graduated from Maury High School in 1961. She married in 1962, had two children and enjoyed her tenure as a teaching assistant at Fair Meadows Private School. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, niece, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was quite a talented cook and she loved tending to her flowers. She thrived on being a steadfast caregiver to multiple generations of her family. She was a blessing to so many and will be missed beyond measure. Left to cherish her memory are: sister Joan J. Sykes (Paul); son Marshall A. Winslow, Jr. (Jane); daughter Michele W. Crumpler (Terry); grandchildren Ellen Winslow, Erin Winslow, Lauren Soady, Austin Soady (Carlie); step-grandson John Crumpler; great-granddaughter Amelia Soady; six nieces and two nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
