Mr. Gapter retired from the U.S. Navy, and later retired from the Post Exchange as a Facilities Maintenance Manager.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nan G. Gapter; sons, H.D. Gapter and wife Cindy of Ohio, and Calvin Fletcher, Jr. and wife Jan of Baltimore, MD; brother, Neal Capter of Colorado; grandsons, Nicholas A. Fletcher and Jonathan L. Fletcher of Nottingham, MD; sisters-in-law, Betty Jones and husband Royce of Chincoteague, VA, and Jackie Harris of Atlantic, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 form 1-3pm, with Military Honors at 1:15pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2pm with a visitation one hour prior at Fox Funeral Home, 10481 Lankford Highway, Temperanceville, VA 23442. Burial will follow at John W. Taylor Cemetery.
