Michael A. Matthews, Jr., 26, passed away quietly October 3, 2010, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital with his family at his side.
Michael was born August 22, 1984, in Norfolk, Virginia. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, boyfriend, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are: his parents, Michael and Mary Matthews; two sisters, Angie Matthews James and husband Jesse, and Michelle Matthews; three nephews: Cameron, Chase, and Ty; paternal grandparents, Carl and Lorraine Matthews; longtime girlfriend, Colleen Wilt; many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and his best friend “Rocky”. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roger and Betty Allen.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm, Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 8, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
