Mary L. Flowers

Mary L. Flowers, 89, went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2012. She was born on March 18, 1923 in Cumberland, Maryland the daughter of the late Cecil C. and Mary G. Colbert. Mary loved to play bingo, card games with her friends and bowling until she was no longer able. She also enjoyed painting, crocheting and working in her garden. Mary’s greatest joy was her family. Her life truly revolved around them from making special meals to decorating the house for the holidays or Easter egg hunts with the grandchildren these are the things that made her the happiest.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 49 years, Eddie Flowers; son, Billy L. Adams and wife Pattie Jo Myers; grandchildren, William Edward Adams and Krystal Claire Adams; great-grandchildren, Aliana Vanessa Hart and Stephen Hart; brothers, Ray Colbert, and Cecil C. Colbert. Jr., and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 3:00 – 4:00 PM in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Serenity in Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to CHKD, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23407.
