Marian Joyce Pierce Coulson

Marian Joyce Pierce Coulson went to be with her Lord, Jesus, on January 10, 2024. She was at home with family and passed peacefully. Joyce was born in Princess Anne County, Virginia on February 21, 1929, to Ethel and Glenn Pierce. She married the love of her life, Roy M. Coulson, Jr. on September 4, 1952. She was predeceased by Roy in June of 2023.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, D. Randall Pierce of Norfolk; her son Stephen M. Coulson and wife Kelly of Virginia Beach; her daughter Kristen Robinson; her grandchildren Andrew Pelletier and wife Amy of Apopka, Florida, Kirsten Coulson of Norfolk, Sarah Hathcock and her husband William of Norfolk, Taylor Jones and her husband Kyle of Virginia Beach, Alisha Carr and husband John of Courtland, Rebecca Starling of Newport News; as well as 11 great grandchildren.

Joyce was a 50-year member of Trinity Baptist Church in Norfolk and was active in the WMU. She was currently a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Joyce was a lifelong homemaker, having stopped working when she was with child in 1957. She loved to drive on short day trips and eat at restaurants with her husband. Burger joints were their favorite.

Joyce was a 2-time breast cancer survivor, first in 1989, then again in 2018. Therefore, in her honor, the family is requesting donations be made to The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (www.vbcf.org) in lieu of flowers.

A memorial service will be held for Joyce at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach on Saturday January 20, 2024, at 11 o’clock A.M. You may offer condolences at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com
