Born on March 30, 1949, in the islands of the Philippines, Rita was a faithful servant of God, a loving mother, lola, wife, sister, cousin, and friend to all.
She is predeceased by her cherished spouse, Vernon V. Damian, and her beloved parents, Luis and Resurreccion Salazar. She is survived by her amazing children - Benjie Damian, Claire Damian, and Kristine Damian, as well as her grandchild, Kelan Coulter, and loyal family pet, Tobi. She is deeply missed by her siblings: sister Helie Bautista, brothers Noli Salazar, Rolando Salazar, Eduardo Salazar, Dominador Salazar, Gerry Salazar, and of course, her wonderful nieces and nephews.
Rita graduated from Far Eastern University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and eventually became a successful business owner at 7-Eleven until her retirement in 2022. As much as she enjoyed working, she especially loved fulfilling her duties as a finance officer at church, and of course, spending time with her loved ones.
As we commend Rita to Our Almighty God’s loving care, we rejoice in the knowledge that her journey has ended, and her life’s victorious race is won. Her legacy of charity, humility and love remains a beacon to guide us on our own paths, inspiring us to live with reverence for every moment, and every blessed day. As a proud member of Iglesia ni Cristo, her memory will forever be cherished by those who loved her and those she held dear.
We invite all of her loved ones to gather in solemn tribute to this humble servant of the Lord on Monday, 19 February 2024, 2 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, VA. Here, in this sacred space, we will offer our prayers of thanksgiving for the blessing that was Rita's life among us.
