Margaret G. Reed Lawson Mahler, 92, passed away peacefully March 9, 2012.
Mrs. Mahler was born December 24, 1919 to the late Jesse C. and Vereolia Groce in Enfield, N.C. She was the owner/ operator of Reed Beauty Salon in Fox Hall for over 25 years. Mrs. Mahler was active in her community and in her faith. She was a 50 year member and past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Norfolk Old Dominion Chapter and an active member of Ferebee Halstead U.M.C. where she sang in the choir. In her free time, she enjoyed music, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Mahler will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness and loving ways will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish her memory are: two sons, Russell D. (Jeanne) and Kenneth P. Reed; and two grandsons, Bradley D. (Deborah) and Joshua D. Reed; numerous step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members. She is preceded in death by three husbands: F. David Reed, Robert Lawson, and Harry Mahler.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the funeral home.
