Margaret Elinor Delaney

Virginian Pilot - Margaret E. Delaney, wife of deceased retired Navy Commander John A. Delaney, died at the age of 96 at Marian Manor Assisted Living Facility. A native of Worcester, MA, Margaret was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Margaret McIntyre.

Margaret and John were married at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Worcester, MA. They were stationed with the U.S. Navy in Monterey, CA; Honolulu, HI; San Diego, CA; Yokosuka, Japan; and Virginia Beach, VA where they finally settled in 1964. After retirement, Margaret and John toured Europe and cruised the world with friends.

Her son, Stephen Delaney, preceded Margaret in death. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Delaney Shaver and son-in-law, Scott of Misawa, Japan; grandchildren, Joseph Shaver of Williamsburg, VA and Katherin Carter and her husband Stephen of Newport News, VA; daughter-in-law, Judy Delaney; grandchildren, Kelly and Kevin Delaney and his wife Kerri; and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Aidan, Ryan, Alyssa, Lauren, Jordan, and Lexi of Carmel and Indianapolis, IN.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sat., Jan. 26th, 2019 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA. Margaret will be laid to rest alongside her husband John at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
