Luke Adams Jimerson

Luke Adams Jimerson was born to Jonathan and Sonya Jimerson on February 17, 2021 at 3:40pm in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Luke was immediately taken to the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters’ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Norfolk, VA where he stayed for the next 79 days, before moving to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for 11 more days. Luke had a total of five surgeries during his first hospital stay.

He arrived home for the first time on May 18, 2021 where he was quickly welcomed by his big sister Lenorah. Luke was dedicated to the Lord on June 27, 2021 at New Life Church - Town Center Campus, with his proud family by his side.

Over time, Luke settled into a routine of spending his weekday mornings and afternoons with his maternal grandparents, while accompanied by his favorite nurse. Luke spent most evenings giggling, playing with his sister, and being rocked to sleep. Along the way, he had several more hospital stays, none of which dimmed his light. Luke worked diligently to achieve every milestone he made. He endeared himself to each nurse, therapist, doctor, and neighbor he came in contact with. Twelve more surgeries later, Luke started preschool on January 17, 2024, at Centerville Elementary School. Where he danced, played, made art projects, and got to ride a school bus. As he grew, he became more adventurous. He loved to tackle his sister, be tossed in the air, climb, feel the wind, and wave hello or goodbye. And he would never miss out on a good snuggle. Luke gave his final goodbye on March 7, 2024 at 11:16am in the same hospital and floor that he had left almost three years before.

Luke is survived by his parents, Jonathan and Sonya Jimerson, his sister Lenorah; Great Grandmother Linda Jimerson; Great Grandmother Phyllis Tillett; grandparents Wayne and Pam Jimerson; grandparents Louis and Lenora Brown; Uncle Aaron (Kate), cousins Victor, Clara and Maxwell; Auntie Sarah (Mike) and cousin Aaron; Uncle Chris (Elyssa) and cousin Gavin. Along with Great Uncles, Aunts, and a host of cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, 10:00 am at New Life Church - Town Center Campus. Located at 420 Thalia Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Procession to Rosewood Memorial Park, to follow: 631 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
