Lina ‘Marie’ Ward, 88, departed this world to be with her Lord on March 22, 2023. Marie was born on Knotts Island, NC to the late Renon O. and Freda Estelle Dozier. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Lewis ‘Edward’ Ward, brothers Melvin, Edward and Gene Dozier and sister, Diane Clark. Marie was an expert seamstress and furniture upholsterer, at one time owning her own business. Her appreciation for antiques and rare items along with her love of engaging with people developed into several lifelong working relationships with some incredible establishments. Marie was a true inspiration, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed being the life of the party, loved to talk and laugh and adored her many cats over the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lisa G. Watson (Jeffery) and Laura Ward Martini (Vincent); grandchildren Joshua (Lindsey) and Jordan Shumaker; great-grandchildren Autumn, Jaiden, Bentley, Rylee, Savanna & Gracelyn.
A service to celebrate Marie and receive friends and family will be held at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with reception immediately following.
