Lillie "Marie" Flinn

Born in her family home, Marie was a lifetime resident of the Back Bay area of Virginia Beach. Marie is survived by her sons, Donald Flinn II (Cathy) and Douglas Flinn (Nancye); her brothers Ottie Grimstead, William Grimstead (Pinky), and Carey Grimstead; and her two grandchildren, Stephen and Sarah Flinn, all of Virginia Beach. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Varney Grimstead, her husband of over 50 years, Donald Flinn, her sister, Audrey Riley, and her beloved daughter, Linda.

Marie owned and operated her own beauty salon from her home and served generations of customers for over 50 years. She enjoyed gardening and was known to share her flowers with many, including those in her church, where she supplied fresh bouquets each week for years. In addition, she loved to cook, and many in the Pungo area will remember her most fondly for her delicious treats which she freely shared with anyone. An avid yard saler, Marie would spend Saturdays looking for deals and searching for things she thought others would enjoy. Marie was known fondly as “LuLu” to her grandchildren, and they enjoyed her youthful energy and her endless adoration. Her legacy of love and for serving her family and church will be remembered for many years to come. She truly embodied joy as she loved and served all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 3:00 at the Church of Christ at Creeds. Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any church of choice.
