Lillian Voegtly Garrett, age 90, went to be with our Lord on June 4, 2018. She was born in Crewe, VA to the late Roger F. and Flossie Mae Voegtly. She grew up in Norfolk and graduated from Maury High School. Lillian was a loving mother, great “Grammy" and a friend to all who were blessed enough to know her. She was a kind, compassionate, generous person who loved the Lord. Lillian was easy to be around, easy to talk to, and easily fit into whatever was happening around her; she mostly "went with the flow". Her greatest accomplishment was raising her two boys (no easy task). Over the years she helped in her church, worked as an operator at C&P Telephone, library assistant at the public library in Rocky Mount, VA, and teacher's assistant at Bayside Elementary, and even took some college classes at Tidewater Community College. She excelled at each of these endeavors and was well loved and appreciated wherever she went. Lillian was dedicated to her family and was a big part of raising her grandkids. She was pre-deceased by her husband, James Noel Garrett and her brother, Kenneth Voegtly.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, J. Roger Garrett (Angie) and Samuel N. Garrett, MD (Nancy) all of Virginia Beach; brother John Voegtly of AZ; 4 grandchildren, David, Mark, Mike and Allison Garrett; and many other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Baylake United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. You may offer condolences at www.kellumfuneralhome.com. 1 Corinthians 13:4-6
